From conference rooms to underground adventures
The trip began with a conference at Villa Salthamn before it was time to swap the meeting room for a much more unusual setting. Wearing helmets, protective coveralls, and waders, the participants set out on a specially tailored adventure in the Lummelunda Cave. Far beyond the usual tourist trails, narrow cave passages, underground streams, and a world that few ever get to experience awaited them.
But right in the middle of the adventure, a surprise awaited us that no one had anticipated. Suddenly, a frogman emerged from the dark water—with sparkling wine for the whole group! It was, to say the least, an unexpected way to be served a glass of sparkling wine, deep beneath Gotland’s limestone bedrock.
After a few hours underground, the group returned to Villa Salthamn for a relaxing evening together.
Mission Gotland – An Entire Island as a Playing Field
Saturday featured the trip’s main highlight: Mission Gotland Special. The participants were divided into three teams and set out on a full-day adventure, each with a minibus and a Gotland driver. With the entire island as their playground, they faced tricky missions, unexpected encounters, and challenges that put their teamwork, creativity, and a bit of competitive spirit to the test. During the day, the teams got to drive a tractor and an excavator, learn more about Gotland’s drinking traditions, meet newborn lambs, and descend a mountain using ropes. But perhaps the day’s most unexpected experience awaited them at Fröjel Church. There, the participants were surprised by a secret concert featuring two musicians in a church lit by candlelight. It was an atmospheric contrast to the day’s fast-paced activities and a moment that added an extra touch of magic to the adventure.
After a full day filled with experiences, laughter, and challenges, the teams returned to Villa Salthamn for the grand finale.
A Conclusion with a Whiff of History
After an eventful day, yet another surprise awaited them. Medieval garments lay in the participants’ rooms, to be worn during that evening’s dinner. Dressed in their new outfits, the group made their way to Visby and an atmospheric cellar dating back to the 13th century. There, a rustic three-course dinner awaited them amid historic arches and candlelight.
For those who wanted to continue the evening, Visby’s nightlife awaited them before it was time to return to Villa Salthamn.
A Winter Conference to Remember
Three days, 18 colleagues, and Gotland—a world away from traditional conference venues.
By combining the conference with shared experiences, we created a program that gave participants the opportunity to get to know one another in new ways, challenge themselves, and discover another side of the island.
From underground cave passages and newborn lambs to secret concerts and medieval festivals—a conference trip doesn't have to be like every other one.
For us at Hansa Event, it’s all about creating events you’ll remember—even in the middle of January.
