Hansa Event aims to contribute to sustainable conferences and meetings, while also promoting the sustainable development of Gotland.

We live on a fantastic island with a delicate natural environment, and we all have a responsibility to preserve this nature and our unique landscape. When we organize events, we recycle everything. Most of the materials for our activities are reused repeatedly, and anything that cannot be reused is sorted according to all the proper rules. This benefits everyone. Did you know that Gotlanders are the best in Sweden at recycling?

We have long been committed to climate and environmental issues. As an event company, we have a broad network of contacts and a responsibility to guide our clients towards the most sustainable option for their events!

Environmental Policy

Hansa Event cares about the environment, and in our environmental policy, we have established that:
We will conserve resources and, as much as possible, use renewable alternatives.
We will use locally and regionally produced goods as much as possible.
We strive to work with suppliers who share our views on climate and environmental issues.
We recommend our clients choose at least one vegetarian meal during their stay.

Local Food Production

Gotland's agriculture produces almost everything you might need during your visit. By choosing locally grown and produced goods, the local economy benefits, and at the same time, the transportation of goods to the island is reduced, which is also environmentally smart. We always strive to source locally and within the parish where the event takes place, and our ambition is to use Gotlandic products and services whenever possible – which is almost always possible on Gotland.

As an event company, we have a responsibility both to our clients and to our island. We always try to guide our clients towards the most sustainable option when they visit us.

Disposable Items and Vehicles

For many years, we have been committed to climate and environmental issues concerning Gotland. We aim to promote fossil-free transportation and use as few disposable items as possible. When disposable items are necessary, we choose paper or other sustainably recyclable materials whenever possible.

Although distances on the island are relatively short and many of our activities are conducted on foot or by bicycle, buses and cars are sometimes needed for transportation. We require our partners to operate in an environmentally smart and sustainable way, and our own cars run on Gotlandic biogas or electricity.

Celebrating Local and Social Sustainability

We offer activities where our clients can actively choose an event that promotes the vibrant countryside. A conference trip where participants can make a truly meaningful contribution, both for themselves and for the Gotlandic rural areas.

Some examples of activities focused on social sustainability:

The Farm – Here we visit a rural farm where time has left its mark. The group's task will be to paint the barn, clear out the storage building, or erect a traditional Gotlandic fence.

The Local Heritage Society – Around Gotland, there are local societies that maintain the cultural interests of their parishes. The tasks vary, but what they have in common is that the outcome is positive for the parish and the people living there.

Nature – This could involve building birdhouses for Gotland's birds, constructing pike factories in the Gotlandic bays, or clearing and opening up nature's own paths in forests and fields.

Regardless of the type of sustainable event you choose, your conference will feel good in your heart and leave a positive impact on the island when you return home.
